Thompson Rivers University defenceman Cody Rose has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending January 22nd.
Rose returned to the WolfPack line-up on Friday night after missing the fall semester due to a pro tryout with the SPHL's Mississippi Surge. And he made his season debut in style, picking up four points in a crucial home-and-home series with Okanagan College.
On Friday, the 23-year old set up Curtis Tonello's first period marker before scoring his first of the season early in the second frame. On Saturday, he set up Casey Patterson to put the WolfPack on the board and later Cody assisted on Cody Lockwood's game winner for his fourth point of the weekend.
The Midway, B.C. native played a key offensive role from the blueline in each of the last two seasons for TRU, with career totals of 6 goals and 30 assists in 39 games over the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.
Runners up for this week's award include Okanagan College forward Layne Stopanski, Trinity Western University goaltender Tim Zwiers and Simon Fraser University forward Joey Pavone.
