The TRU WolfPack Men’sHockey team will be on the road this weekend to face Trinity Western University on Saturday afternoon at the Langley Events Centre (1:00 PM faceoff).
This will be the team’s first away game in a while, and head coach Don Schulz thinks his players are looking forward to hitting the road.
“The team spirit is really good and they really enjoy each other’s company,” he says.
When asked how he felt about playing an away game, Duncan Schulz said, “we’ve been pretty dominant at home so I think it’s going to be a little bit of a challenge, but I think we’ll be just fine.”
It’s clear that TRU will be up for the challenge of continuing their winning streak this weekend. TRU and Trinity have played each other twice this year, and both times TRU went away victorious.
However, according to caption Andrew Fisher, this doesn’t mean Saturday’s game with be an easy win.
“It will give us some confidence knowing that we can beat them but in this league any team can beat any other team on any night. We have to go in and give it our best effort no matter who we are playing.”
Schulz agreed saying, “we won both games but both games were reasonably close and certainly we are going to have to be ready and bring our 'A' game as we would with any league opponent.”
With the team playing so many games lately it’s easy to forget that these players have other responsibilities.
“There’s been some exams and what not so we’ve been just trying to keep our minds in hockey mode and working really hard at practice and getting ready for this weekend,” said Duncan Schulz.
Furthermore, the team is still actively participating in Movember.
According to Fisher, the fundraising has been going really well, with the team having raised close to $1000. though “some guys are counting down the days until December."
Anyone who wants to help the team, “raise as much money and awareness [as possible],” can go to http://ca.movember.com and search TRU Hockey.
