Selkirk College goaltender Spenser Wong has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 6th.
Wong led the Saints to a pair of wins on the weekend over previously unbeaten Eastern Washington University. On Friday, the 21-year old made 36 saves -- including 17 in the third period of a first star effort -- to shut down the Eagles on home ice in a 4-1 win. The next night, on the road, Wong was less than a minute away from his first BCIHL shutout when AJ Sanders put the Eagles on the board, but Selkirk once again prevailed by a 4-1 margin.
Wong's totals for the weekend included two wins in two starts, as well as a 1.00 goals-against average and an outstanding .968 save percentage. His overall GAA (2.97) and SV% (.922) stand sixth and second respectively in the league, while he was faced the most shots and made the most saves by any BCIHL goaltender this season.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Ben Van Lare, University of Victoria forward Adam Courtnall and Okanagan College forward Marc Mackenzie.
