SELKIRK COLLEGE SAINTS
2010/11 Record: 4-19-1, 6th Place
Key Additions: Jordan Wood (Kelowna Chiefs/KIJHL), Justin Sotkowy (Victoria Cougars/VIJHL), Nick Cecconi (Princeton Posse/KIJHL), Sandro Moser (Kimberley Dynamiters/KIJHL), Graham Proulx (Beaver Valley Nitehawks/KIJHL).
Key Returnees: Scott Traverse (24-4-15-19), Caleb Georgetti (21-11-5-16), Scott Jago (22-5-6-11), Brendan Madlung (11-5-3-8), Spenser Wong (3-15, 5.68 GAA, .872 SV%).
Key Departures: Caleb Roy (21-6-10-16), Travis Herlein (24-9-4-13).
2011-12 Outlook: A four-win season may not appear to be a step forwards at first glance, but it seems like a solid foundation is now in place for the Saints to make a run for their first BCIHL postseason berth. Up front, leading points and goal scorers Scott Traverse and Caleb Georgetti are back, along with Junior A vet Scott Jago and Brendan Madlung, who boosted the Selkirk offence after signing on in January.
That group will be joined by Jordan Wood, who was one of the KIJHL's most productive forwards over the past two seasons. The 21-year old scored 46 goals and totalled 102 points in 80 regular season games during that span while also suiting up in a number of games for the BCHL's Westside Warriors. Meanwhile, blueliner Justin Sotkowy should provide an offensive spark from the blueline after posting 41 points in 39 games with the VIJHL's Victoria Cougars and leading the league in power-play assists.
In net, Spenser Wong returns after a positive rookie season in which he stopped more shots than any other BCIHL netminder.
Season Opener: Saturday, September 30th at Okanagan College
