The Eastern Washington University Men's Hockey program is pleased to announce a playing commitment from Jake Flynn (Wenatchee, WA) for the 2011/12 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Flynn comes to the Eagles after one season at Iowa State University (ACHA D1) where he contributed 20 goals and 17 assists in 39 games as a freshman. Prior to playing at Iowa State, he suited up for the North American Hockey League's Wenatchee Wild, compiling 24 points and 210 PIMs in 89 games over two seasons.
“This is great addition for our program on a number of levels," says EWU head coach Bill Shaw. "In order to grow the program we need to add players from the Tier 2 Jr. A and Major Junior levels. Aside from that we also must take advantage of the talent the state has been producing of late. Jake’s commitment does all of this and continues that trend of top-end players from Washington playing at EWU, following in the footsteps of players like Ryan Pajimola, Jason Greenwell, Justin Crosby, and Nick Kelly.”
The addition of Flynn brings Eastern's commitments total to four following commitments from Bobby Ward (Alpena IceDiggers/NAHL), AJ King (Spokane Braves/KIJHL) and AJ Sanders (Western Michigan Blizzard/AAHL).
“We have a few other players we are waiting to hear from admissions on," says Shaw. "We have a great group of players returning and feel the roster is filling out very well”.
