The Okanagan College Coyotes Men’s Hockey program is pleased to announce playing commitments from a pair of Lloydminster Bobcats, as forward and team captain Steve Dobbin and defenceman Cory Hodgins have agreed to suit up for the Coyotes for the 2011/12 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Dobbin, from Medicine Hat, AB, is a veteran of three seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he captained the Bobcats in his final campaign while scoring six goals and 10 points in 30 games. His career AJHL totals include 33 goals and 86 points from 151 games, highlighted by a 46-point year with the Brook Bandits in 2009/10.
Hodgins, from Kyle, SK, joined the Bobcats early in the 2010/11 season following two-plus seasons with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Nipawin Hawks where he wore the C. He scored 10 times and added 10 assists in 35 games with Lloydminster and totalled 22 goals and 39 assists in 159 Junior A games.
“Adding two players of Steve and Cory’s ability and experience marks an excellent start in solidifying a championship-calibre roster for the 2011/12 season,” says Coyotes general manager Kolby Barnstable. “We are extremely happy to add quality players but more importantly valuable leaders and guys of strong character. Both players will play pivotal roles on special teams and in critical situations. Both Hodgins and Dobbin have had success at the Junior level and should develop into key players for our program.“
