Okanagan College and Simon Fraser University will meet Saturday night in a game that will either solidify SFU's hold on first place or see them passed in the standings by a strong Coyotes squad. Gametime is set for 8:00 PM from the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.
Okanagan is playing just its second game of the month following a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Selkirk College last Saturday. It will mark a rare first semester trip outside of Kelowna, as the Coyotes have played in just three road games while hosting six times.
SFU, meanwhile, is playing its final league contest prior to the December break after opening the month with five games in less than three weeks. The Clan are currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak that began on October 30th and has included wins over Trinity Western, Selkirk College, Fraser Valley and the University of Victoria.
SFU skaters currently occupy six of the top 10 places in league scoring, due in part to having already played 12 regular season games. Winger Jaime Laprise sits atop the BCIHL scoring charts with 21 points, while Colby Kulhanek (19), Ben Van Lare (16), Kyle Boyko (16), Kyle Leung and Paul Moscone (both 15) stand second, fourth and seventh respectively.
Okanagan is led offensively by rookie forward Aaron Buat and second year centre Brock Munro, who are tied for the team lead and 11th in league scoring with 12 points.
Coyotes netminder Adam Butler leads all BCHL starters with a 1.43 goals-against average and .953 save-percentage. He'll likely contest SFU's Justin Mulholland, who has compiled a 4-3-1 record and 3.01 GAA.
Saturday's meeting marks the second time this season that SFU and Okanagan College have met this season. On October 1st, the Coyotes received a pair of goals from Munro en route to a 4-1 victory on home ice.
