The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack hockey team played before 750 fans at Memorial Arena on Friday night and came away with an 8-5 win over the visiting Selkirk College Saints in B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League action.
The game played tight through the first period, as TRU's Casey Patterson and Tyler Halliday gave the WolfPack a two-goal lead that was quickly wiped out by markers from Selkirk's Braeden Mace and Travis Herlein. The Saints then proceeded to grab the lead in the second, as Scott Traverse and Mace scored in the opening minutes.
But the WolfPack took control of the game from there, as Lucas Daoust scored late in the middle frame before the home side netted five consecutive goals in the third to put the game out of reach. The victory keeps the WolfPack undefeated over two seasons in the famous arena on Victoria Street.
The WolfPack were paced offensively by first star Lucas Daoust's two goals and one assist while second star David Gore came away with four helpers.
Anthony Manfredi picked up the win in net after facing 23 shots while the Pack’ pelted Selkirk goalie Spencer Wong with 56 shots.
