Laprise nets 50th BCIHL goal as SFU completes road sweep of Selkirk

Just one week after linemate Paul Moscone became the first ever Simon Fraser University player to reach the milestone of 100 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League points, Jaime Laprise netted his 50th career regular season goal to pace SFU to a 9-2 victory over Selkirk College at the Castelgar Recreation Centre.

Colby Kulhanek opened the scoring for SFU with a shorthanded effort that sparked a four-goal first period for the Clan. Anthony Ferrari netted his second of the season at the 10:17 mark of the frame, while Laprise and Ben Van Lare each tallied after Selkirk's Scott Jago had brought his team within one on a solo rush.

Van Lare, Laprise and Jago also accounted for the game's scoring the second period, cueing a final 20 minutes that included Laprise's milestone goal with 4:37 remaining in regulation.

Andrew Parent fared well in his first regular season start for SFU, stopping 28 of 30 shots. Todd Hoodicoff, his counterpart for Selkirk, faced 52 shots and allowed nine goals.

SFU now begins a busy week that includes a trio of road games. They begin a three-in-four stretch on Thursday with a visit to the University of the Fraser Valley before travelling to Vancouver Island for a two-game set against the University of Victoria.

The Saints, meanwhile, make their first trip into the Interior next weekend with visits to Okanagan College and Thompson Rivers University set for Friday and Saturday nights respectively.
