WolfPack remain atop standings with victory over Fraser Valley

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack did not disappoint a crowd of over 750 excited fans as they downed the University of Fraser Valley by a 7-2 score on Friday night at Memorial Arena.

The Pack's goal scoring was spread between seven different players. Darcy Huisman paced the squad with three assists while Jassi Sangha chipped in one goal and two helpers, Korey Gannon led the team on the backend with and strong defensive game.

Former Kamloops Storm goalie Anthony Manfredi had the win with a strong performance in net facing 24 shots and allowing only two goal against.

Graham Fast and Mike Wilson, on a second period power-play, replied for the Cascades in the loss. Adam Postmus held the WolfPack offence in check for much of the game, particularly during a 25-shot second period, but ultimately allowed four goals in a three-minute stretch in the third that blew the game open.

The game, which was dedicated towards raising funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, saw fans get in the act by snapping up pink WolfPack shirts and pink pucks for a toss during the second period intermission. The players chipped in by wearing pink laces and displaying pink tape on their sticks during the game.

Next up for the WolfPack is a road contest on October 23rd when the team travels to Kelowna to play the Okanagan College Coyotes. TRU's next home game is October 29th when they host the SFU Clan at Memorial with puck dropping at 8:30pm.
