British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League co-MVPs Rob Vos and Paul Moscone will be facing off against one another in just over a week at the 2010 BCIHL Championships in Langley, but the pair has been thrown together again as two-thirds of the forward unit on the league's First All-Star Team for the 2009/10 season.
Vos and Moscone are joined by fellow forward and Simon Fraser University leading scorer Jackson Friesen on the First Team, along with Thompson Rivers defenceman David Boychuk and SFU counterpart Andrew Graham. Justin Mulholland, who also captured the league's Top Goaltender Award, was also named to the team.
Meanwhile, a pair of University of Victoria Vikes highlight the Second Team All-Stars. UVic captain Matt Schultz and Okanagan College blueliner Dave Mann are paired on defence, while Thompson Rivers University's Jassi Sangha, SFU's Jaime Laprise and Victoria's David Blake took the three forwards spots. Trinity Western University's John-Paul Chapman was named the goaltender for the Second Team.
The BCIHL's two All-Star units feature a number of repeat honourees, headlined by three-time first-teamer Vos. Moscone (2008 1st Team, 2009 2nd Team), Graham (2008 and 2009 2nd Team), Friesen (2009 1st Team) and Laprise (2009 2nd Team) are all also former All-Stars.
Meanwhile, a number of BCIHLers captured All-Star honours in their first seasons in the league. Included in this group are Boychuk and Sanhga from TRU as well as SFU's Mulholland and Okanagan's Mann.
The BCIHL First and Second Team All-Stars were determined by a vote of coaches from the league's seven member teams. The recipients will be honoured at the league's 2010 Awards Banquet on Friday, March 19th at the Langley Events Centre.
