Simon Fraser University celebrated its second consecutive B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League regular season title with an 8-3 victory over the Trinity Western University Titans on Saturday evening at the Burnaby Winter Club.
With the win, SFU took its record for the 2009/10 season to 17-5-2 and 36 points, beating out Thompson Rivers University by four points for the regular season banner. The game also marked the 20th consecutive home victory for SFU, who has not lost in Burnaby since their final game of the 2007/08 season.
Andrew Graham and Paul Moscone each contributed two goals and an assist in the victory, while Jas Rai and Jackson Friesen each connected for four points. SFU starting netminder Justin Mulholland won his BCIHL-leading 15th game, turning aside 35 shots.
