The Trinity Western University Titans are undefeated in 2010 after beating top-ranked Simon Fraser University on Sunday by a 5-3 score. Goaltender John-Paul Chapman held the Titans in the game, making 33 saves and earning himself the game's first star homours.
Trinity Western jumped into the lead, scoring the first three goals of the game from Andrew Heringer, Benton Nickel and Matt Chaput. Simon Fraser kept coming and finally netted one from James Power only to be scored on a second time by Chaput.
The third period looked like a comeback from Simon Fraser with two goals in a row from Paul Mascone but the Titans then solidified their lead again with a final goal from Sam Ahlgren.
This Titans win made five games in a row without a loss, making their league record nine wins, nine losses and one tie. Simon Fraser sits well out in first with 15 wins and just five losses and a tie.
The Trinity Western Titans travel to Victoria this coming weekend for a double header against UVIC, who currently sits with one point more than TWU but Trinity has two games in hand. With just five more games in regular season play Trinity Western is looking to continue to move ahead in the standings. This has been a record season for them so far with much still to come.
