The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack wouldn’t say their victory Sunday over the University of Victoria was one to remember. But, it did extend their winning streak in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League to two.
Playing at Memorial Arena, the ‘Pack came away with a 5-3 victory. That raises the WolfPack record to 10 wins and 6 losses.
“We didn’t play as well as we can,” said TRU head coach Chris Hans, “but we found a way to win”
Hans felt his club took too many penalties.
“But our PK was effective,” he added. “Ironically, we scored two power play goals in the third period en route to the victory.”
The ‘Pack got two goals from Jassi Sangha, who returned to the TRU line-up after sitting out Saturday’s victory over UVic with a one-game suspension. Other TRU goals came from Cody Rose, Casey Patterson and Korey Gannon.
Victoria got two goals from Cory St. Laurent and one from Brent Sutherland. The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 after 40 minutes. Brock Fraser got praise from Hans for his work in the TRU goal. He stopped 25 shots. Alex Kwong handled 33 in the nets for UVic.
The ‘Pack have next week off. Their next action is February 6-7 against Simon Fraser University.
