Simon Fraser tops the WolfPack in tightly contested game in Burnaby

In what could be a preview to the league final, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack dropped a 6-5 decision to SFU in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League on Saturday.

"The teams are evenly matched," said WolfPack head coach Chris Hans, who saw his team drop to 4 and 2 on the season. "SFU is explosive and we adjusted fairly well to their speed. We showed a great deal of charactor despite the loss"

SFU moves to 6-0 on the season.

SFU led 3-2 after the first period after the WolfPack received goals from Nathan Michaels (5th year, right wing, Kamloops, BC) and Jassi Sangha (1st year, forward Kamloops, BC).

The teams were tied at 4-4 after 40 minutes.

Joel Leonard (4th year, LW-C, Kamloops, BC) scoring his third goal in two games and David Gore (2nd year, center, Kamloops, BC) tallied for TRU, who outshot SFU 14-9 in that period.

Dustin Hermiston (1st year, forward, Kamloops, BC) notched his first ever goal in the third period--a stanza where SFU outgunned TRU 13-7. On the game, SFU outshot TRU 40-32.

Blake Tancock (1st year, Chilliwack, BC) was in the nets for the WolfPack. TRU was 1 for 5 on the power play while SFU was 2 for 7.

The 'Pack return home to host the Titans of Trinity Western on November 14th and 15th at Memorial Arena.

ICE CHIPS--Team Captain/Assistant Coach David Boychuk suffered a sore wrist but is expected to play in the next series of games.
