The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League today released its 2009/10 regular season schedule, which sees the league's seven teams each play a 24-game schedule. The 84-game schedule begins on Friday, September 25th and concludes on Sunday, March 7th.
The season kicks off with a re-match of last season's Championship Game when the University of Victoria travels to Burnaby to face Simon Fraser University. The Vikes then face the University of the Fraser Valley one night later in Abbotsford. Newcomers Thompson Rivers University and Okanagan College begin their first season in the BCIHL with a two-game series in Kamloops on September 25th and 26th, while Trinity Western University heads east for a two-game set in Castlegar against Selkirk College.
The league takes its traditional Exam and Holiday break for the months of the December, meaning that games played the weekend of November 27th to 19th will wrap the fall portion of the schedule. The second half commences on Friday, January 8th.
The BCIHL's year-end Championship Tournament is set to take place the weekend of March 12th to 14th. The location of this season's championships will be announced prior to the beginning of the regular season.
