University of Victoria forward Brent Sutherland has been named the 2009 BC Intercollegiate Hockey League Championships Most Valuable Player, the league has announced.
Sutherland helped lead Victoria to gold at the event, picking up a pair of game winning goals in crucial moments, including in the Championship Game against Simon Fraser University.
Sutherland was also named to the tournament's All-Star team, alongside teammates Matt Schultz and Nick Olynyk.
Rounding out the All-Star team were Simon Fraser forward Jaime Laprise, who lead the Championship in scoring with 10 points in four games, SFU defenceman Iain Stewart and Fraser Valley forward Rob Vos.
