University of Victoria forward Brett Campbell has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Most Valuable Player for the 2008/09 season, the league announced Tuesday.
Campbell, who finished the season with nine goals and six assists in 16 games, led a balanced Victoria offence that propeled the team to a second-place finish in the BCIHL's regular season standings and a #2 seed in the league's year-end championship tournament.
The 23-year old, who played his junior hockey with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons and Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, is in his second season with the Vikes.
Campbell beat out nominees from the league's four other teams for the honour. They were: Garrett Lee (SFU), Josh Macknee (TWU), Josh Pastoor (UFV), and Adam Postmus (Selkirk).
