He may be the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League's best-known name, but former Vancouver Giants star Mitch Bartley knows he isn't going to be an impact player during the University of the Fraser Valley's regular season campaign based on reputation alone.
The three-time 30-goal scorer from the Western Hockey League joined the Cascades in January after a two-season stint with the University of B.C. His offensive impact was swift, with one goal and four assists to show for his first three league games.
After Bartley scored his first BCIHL goal against Selkirk College on January 25th, his teammates made sure they collected the puck and presented it to him after the game. The rookie treatment, it seems, never changes no matter what you've accomplished as a player.
With Bartley, reigning league MVP Rob Vos and fellow offensive weapons Kyle Krunick, Darren Olson and Simon Brouwer on board, Fraser Valley appears set for firepower heading down the home stretch.
UFV plays their final regular season game against Trinity Western on March 7th before beginning their BCIHL Championships round-robin campaign against the University of Victoria on March 13th.
