Eight games into the 2008 regular season, everything seems to be progressing according to plan for the Simon Fraser University men's ice hockey program.
After capturing a league championship six months ago, the team underwent a number of offseason changes that included the departure of captain Shawn Murracas, star blueliner Ben Robinson and netminders Joseph Demare and Blake Hanna.
But the biggest difference may be behind the bench, where former junior standout and NCAA star Mark Coletta took over coaching duties entering the season. And the squad hasn't missed a beat.
With only one loss against seven wins, SFU enters the holiday break with a two-point lead over Fraser Valley atop the BCIHL standings. And with those teams meeting in their first game back after the winter break, some Simon Fraser will have the opportunity to grab command of their own destiny down the stretch.
