The University of Victoria Vikes started the season with a bang this weekend, winning two of three games on a Lower Mainland road swing.
UVic opened the season with a 4-2 victory at Trinity Western on Friday, receiving goals from Asahel Beaudet, Brett Campbell, CJ Summers and Dave Blake while veteran netminder Tim Manuel earned the win in net.
A night later, the Vikes stumbled out of the gate against Simon Fraser, falling behind 3-0 after 20 minutes and ultimately losing 5-1. Blair Driedger led the way offensively for SFU, scoring twice, while Garrett Lee continued his strong play between the pipes.
On Sunday, Victoria wrapped their trip be defeating 2008 BCIHL Runners-up Fraser Valley by a 3-2 score. Beaudet assisted twice for the visitors while defending scoring champ Rob Vos tallied a goal and an assist.
The University of Victoria next hits the ice on Friday when they open a two-game homestand against Simon Fraser.
