A rare mid-week matchup sees the Vikes head up-island to Nanaimo to face the Mariners.
Both the Vikes and Mariners earned two points each last weekend against the SFU Red Leafs to stay within two points of each other for second and third in the league.
VIU remains the last undefeated team in the regular season with 4 wins in 4 games, including a 5-4 win over the Vikes in their first meeting of the season. The Mariners will look to jump ahead of the Okanagan Lakers, who are ahead by just one point, for top spot in the league.
UVic enters Wednesday’s matchup after defeating the SFU Red Leafs in a wild comeback last weekend, falling behind 5-1 early in the 2nd but scoring 5 unanswered goals and eventually winning 7-6 in overtime. The Vikes are the only team this year to defeat the Mariners, earning a 2-1 overtime win in the first game of the year during the Tom Harris Cup in the pre-season.
