Simon Fraser seeking Assistant Coach for 2011/12 Season |

The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program is seeking to fill the recently vacated position of Assistant Coach with the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League’s two-time defending champions. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the university hockey program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Head Coach in daily practice planning, game day management, video breakdown and analysis, community service activities, off-ice conditioning efforts and fundraising events as well as additional duties as assigned. This is a part-time position that includes a monthly stipend. The ideal candidate will have previous coaching experience at the junior or collegiate level and a proven ability to successfully work with student athletes, staff, community members and alumni. The search will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. ABOUT THE TEAM: The SFU Men’s Ice Hockey team was founded in 2004 and has quickly grown into a program that attracts players from Major Junior and Canadian Junior A hockey. SFU compete in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League and has captured league championships in 2008, 2010 and 2011. The team also competes against other Canadian and American college and university programs and will face both NCAA and CIS teams during the 2011/12 season. ABOUT THE COACH Mark Coletta joined Simon Fraser University in 2008 and is entering his fourth season as the Head Coach for Men’s Ice Hockey. Mark has led the Clan to two league regular season titles and two league playoff championships and has twice been named the BCIHL’s Coach of the Year. Mark is a graduate of Plattsburgh State University in Plattsburgh, New York, where he captured an NCAA Division III National Championship as a player with the Cardinals and competed in three NCAA Division III Frozen Four tournaments. Prior to joining SFU, Mark was an assistant coach with the BCHL’s Surrey Eagles. |
