Simon Fraser University forward Jaret Babych has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 11th.
Babych made an immediate impact for the Clan after an offseason transfer back to his home province from NCAA DIII UMass-Dartmouth. On Saturday, in SFU's regular season opener at TWU, Babych scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Clan to a 5-4 road victory.
With his team down a goal early in the first period, Babych struck for a pair in a span of 2:30. He also assisted on the eventual game winner with 2:08 remaining in regulation when he helped set up Darnel St. Pierre's power-play marker.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University goaltender Jordan Liem, Selkirk College forward Ryon Sookro and University of Victoria forward Linden Horswill.
