Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from forward Devan Beck (Kennewick, WA), who will join the Eagles for the 2015/16 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Beck recently completed his junior career with the Salt Lake City Moose of the Western States Hockey League. He scored 12 goals and added 15 assists in 45 games during the 2014/15 regular season and contributed three points in six playoff contests.
Overall, Beck spent the last four seasons playing junior hockey, including three years in the WSHL with the Salt Lake/Park City franchise and Tulsa, picking up 85 points in 122 regular season games.
The diminutive 5-foot-6 forward will rely on his speed and playmaking ability in order to succeed with the Eagles, just as he did during his junior career. The Eagles staff believes Beck can enjoy similiar success to some of the team's other small forwards.
"If you look at how effective Paxton Bell’s game was this season I think it gives you a good idea of what Devan can be for us," says EWU General Manager Bill Shaw.
The addition of Beck adds another player from the Try-City area, which has been a large supplier of players for the team the last few years. Beck will enroll at EWU in the fall and is the Eagles' 7th official commitment.
