The BC Intercollgiate Hockey League announced today that Trinity Western University forward Joseph Sylvain is the BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 5, 2020.
Sylvain had 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in 2 games as the Spartans posted back-to-back road victories against Selkirk College to extend their season-long winning streak to 11 games.
The Girouxville, AB product scored twice in the first period and added a second period assist on Saturday as TWU build up a 5-0 en route to a 6-3 win against the Saints. Sylvain was named first star of the game for his efforts. He then added an assist in the first period of Sunday’s game as the Spartans battled back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Selkirk 6-4.
The 23-year-old, who’s into his fourth BCIHL season with Trinity Western, has 3 goals and 5 assists in 10 games this season. The two-time North West Junior Hockey League champion with the North Peace Navigators has already eclipsed his BCIHL career high point total by two, with 13 games to go in the season. Sylvain is riding a 4-game point streak and recorded points in 5 of his last 6 games.
