The Selkirk College Men’s Hockey program is pleased to announce a playing commitment from forward Troy Maclise (Lacombe, AB) to attend Selkirk College and compete for the Saints beginning in the 2015/16 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Maclise is a 5-foot-10, 160 pound forward who is completing his third season of junior hockey with the Kootenay International Hockey League’s Osoyoos Coyotes.
Combining speed and a strong work ethic, Maclise sits in a tie for fifth in league scoring with 26 goals and 34 assists in 46 games. The 20-year old has accumulated three-straight 20 goal seasons since joining the KIJHL with 28 of those markers coming on the power play.
Overall, Maclise has played 148 KIJHL games, scoring a total of 168 points. The Coyotes currently sit atop of the KIJHL's regular season standings heading into the playoffs and are one of the favorites to capture a league title.
“Troy is a smart hockey player who possesses a lot of speed,” said Saints head coach Alex Evin. “He has been a consistent player in a great organization for three seasons and has both the on and off ice leadership skills that we look for in an individual.”
“I think Troy’s game will transition smoothly to our style of hockey at Selkirk College and we expect him to be an impact player for a few seasons.”
“I’m very excited to play at a higher level of hockey while continuing my education,” said Maclise. “I'd like to be a player that is reliable in all situations. My strength on the ice is my speed and positive attitude off the ice.”
Maclise and the Coyotes are gearing up for the first round of playoffs where they will either face the Kelowna Chiefs or the Princeton Posse. He plans to enroll in the Arts and Sciences program with a focus on Biology at Selkirk College.
Maclise is Selkirk's second player commit for 2015/16, joining forward Marcel Fuchs of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats.
