Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a commitment from defenseman Chris Watkins (Spokane, WA) to join the Eagles for the 2014/15 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
The 6-foot-2 blueliner will bring size and experience to EWU after spending the last two seasons playing at Dakota College of Bottineau in the National Junior Colleges Athletics Association.
Prior to his time at Bottineau, Watkins played junior hockey for the Trenton Habs and prep school hockey at Brighton Academy.
At Eastern, Watkins will get the opportunity to play close to home for the first time in a number of years.
"Our season has shown that we need more to improve in all areas and Chris will help us do that," says Eagles head coach Bill Shaw.
The Eagles who were eliminated from the BCIHL playoff chase this week, and according to Shaw will be adding quite a few more players this spring and summer.
"We have offers out to a number of players and they are starting to be returned," he says. "We expect to be able to have many more commitments announced in the next few weeks."
