The University of Victoria is pleased to announce a commitment of former Osoyoos Coyotes goaltender Daniel Paul to join the Vikes for the 2019/20 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Paul is a native of Kelowna, B.C. who played his minor hockey in West Kelowna. Over the past four seasons in the KIJHL he has played 136 games with the Coyotes and North Okanagan Knights, posting a GAA of 3.02 and a .912 SV%. Three years ago, Paul attended the Hit The Ice TV Hockey show in Winnipeg and is grateful for the experience he had while staying at the University of Manitoba.
With his junior career now behind him, Paul is looking forward to calling UVic home for the next 4 years.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to go to university and become a student athlete," he says. "I’ve heard many great things about the quality of education at the University of Victoria and you definitely can’t beat the location."
"Academically my goal is to enter general sciences, as I’m really interested in human life and everything surrounding it. I take great pride in the human body and living a healthy lifestyle. My goal is to be a very effective and responsible student throughout my studies at the UVic."
Paul is the eighth player to commit to the Vikes this offseason, joining forwards Keenan Eddy (Wellington Dukes, OJHL), Keegan Durrance (Westshore, VIJHL), Zac Gladu (Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL), Stratton Pickett (Red Lake Miners, SIJHL) and Caleb Griffin (Rum River Mallards, USPHL) as well as defencemen Jarret Malloch (Westshore Wolves, VIJHL) and Brock Schwaluk (Virden Oil Capitals, MJHL).
