The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's six member teams are composed primarily of players with Junior A and B experience. All six teams actively seek new talent, and player recruitment is overseen by each individual program.

The B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League provides opportunities to advance in college and professional hockey. A number of BCIHL grads have pursued further collegiate playing opportunitiesin the CIS or NCAA and professional opportunities in the ECHL, CHL and SPHL.
