Vancouver Island University goaltender Matt Huber is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending March 10th.
The 21-year-old from Calgary helped lead the Mariners to a playoff upset of Selkirk College by handing the Saints their first ever post-season series loss on home ice.
On Friday, Huber stopped 25 shots as VIU posted its first ever BCIHL playoff win. Huber played 46:46 of shutout hockey after allowing a first period goal to Sebastian Powsey and the Mariners pasted Selkirk 6-1.
On Saturday, the former Summerland Steam netminder kicked out 34 Saints shots as VIU avenged last year's first round loss to Selkirk with a 3-2 Game Two victory to advance to the BCIHL final series against TWU.
Huber leads the BCIHL playoffs with a 2-0 record, a 1.50 goals-against-average, a .952 save percentage and a 3.49 goals-saved-above-average. In just two playoff games, he's just one win away from matching his 2018-19 regular season total.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include VIU forward Dylan McCann, Simon Fraser University forward Kyle Bergh, and Trinity Western University defenceman Jacob Mills.
