Simon Fraser University goaltender Michael Lenko is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending February 24th.
The 21-year-old from Gabriola Island, BC helped SFU gain three of a possible four points last week after a win and a shootout loss at home against the University of Victoria.
On Friday, Lenko made 18 saves for his first career BCIHL shutout as the Clan blanked the Vikes 3-0. He and TWU netminder Lucas Mills are now the only two goaltenders to post a shutout in the league so far this season.
One night later, Lenko, whose junior career wrapped up with the English River Miners of the SIJHL, kicked out 28 shots by the Vikes, but fell 3-2 in a shootout.
Lenko is now fifth overall in the BCIHL in goals-against-average at 3.37 through 13 games played.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include University of Victoria goaltender Zack Wear, SFU forward Mitch Ledyard, and Vikes forward Otis Goldman.
