Spartans celebrate BCIHL Alumni Week by welcoming back past Spartans

On February 1st and 2nd, the Trinity Western University Men's Hockey team held the Spartans Men's Hockey Alumni Weekend which featured a TWU game, afternoon alumni game & Vancouver Giants game.

The weekend began with a banquet prior to the TWU vs. Selkirk College game on February 1st which gave alumni from the past 30 years a chance to reconnect and meet some of the current players & coaching staff.

The next morning, members of the TWU hockey alumni stepped on the ice alongside the current TWU team for a casual alumni game. Former BCIHL Goalie of the Year Tim Zwiers would suit up for the alumni squad. Tim is now a teacher in Langley and spends his spare time helping the PIJHL's Langley Trappers, who also happen to be owned by former TWU captain Brad Bakken.

The game also featured two generations of TWU hockey alumni as Rob Bogress who played for TWU in the 1980's skated with his son and current TWU hockey player Jordan Bogress. Joining them in the photo is Robin Seimens, a teammate of Bogress in the 80's.

The weekend would end with the alumni and coaching staff taking in a Vancouver Giants game from a VIP suite as the Giants took on the Prince George Cougars.
