Trinity Western University defenceman Travis Verveda is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending February 3rd.
The 21-year-old from Alix, Alberta was a big offensive contributor for the Spartans as they went 1-1 in a two-game home set against Selkirk College.
On Thursday, Verveda had an assist on Brayden Brown's power play marker with one minute left in the third period, but TWU wasn't able to tie the game up as Selkirk held on for a 3-2 win.
At the Langley Events Centre on Friday night, Verveda exploded for two goals and two assists as the Spartans and Saints tried to outgun one another in a game that finished 7-6 in favour of TWU.
Verveda is second on the Spartans in scoring from the blueline, with only BCIHL third leading scorer and teammate Dustin Deugau ahead of him. The former Canmore Eagles alternate captain leads all rookie defencemen in scoring this season and his five power play assists see him tied for fourth overall.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include Simon Fraser University forward Mitch Newsome, Selkirk College forward Jackson Bruce-Fuoco, Vancouver Island University forward Brett Witala and University of Victoria goaltender Zack Wear.
