Trinity Western University (13-3-0-1) is back at home for its final regular season home weekend as the Spartans host the Selkirk College Saints (9-5-0-4) on Thursday and Friday.
The BCIHL-leading Spartans are looking to get back on track after losing me last weekend at Simon Fraser. Coming off a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Clan last Saturday, the Trinity Western men’s hockey team returns home to face visiting Selkirk College in a pair of games at the Langley Events Centre.
The Spartans are looking to build on their first-place league lead (TWU sits on 27 points), while the third-place Saints are just five points back of the Spartans (22 points).
TWU was handed just its third regulation loss last weekend at the hands of SFU (4-2) while Selkirk is coming off a shootout loss after Vancouver Island University last weekend (5-4), which snapped the teams four-game winning streak.
Forward Evan Last leads the Spartans and is third in the BCIHL in points, with eight goals and 14 assists. Selkirk forward Edward Lindsey leads the Saints and is fifth in the league with 11 goals and nine assists. Lindsey was recently named the BCIHL’s ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week after a four-point weekend (3G and 1A).
Goaltender Lucas Mills (Burnaby, B.C.) leads the way in goal for TWU, sitting first in the league in wins (11), goals against average (1.97) and save percentage (.923). Selkirk goaltender Tallon Kramer sits third in the BCIHL in wins (6).
These two teams last met Jan. 4th in Langley, as TWU picked up a 9-4 win.
Prior to Friday’s game, the Spartans will honour graduating senior athletes Deryk Kirchner, Kaleb Denham, Jacob Mills and Florian Niedermaier.
Faceoff for both games is set for 7:30 PM and both can be viewed live on Hockey TV.
