Vancouver Island University forward Brett Witala is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending January 20th.
The 22-year-old from Kelowna, BC lead the Mariners offensively as they got back in the win column with a 5-4 win over Simon Fraser University on Saturday night.
In VIU's lone game of the week, Witala notched an assist in both first and second periods before scoring the winner with just over 12 minutes remaining in the third period.
The goal was his 11th of the season, which leads all Mariners players, and his 25 points vaults him past Dallas Calvin by one point as VIU's top scorer as well.
The former Kelowna Chiefs captain has also taken over the BCIHL scoring lead from Calvin as the two teammates are each averaging 1.5 points-per-game to lead all players.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include Simon Fraser University defenceman Mathew Berry-Lamontagna, University of Victoria forward Matthew Hermary, and VIU forward Dylan McCann.
