Trinity Western University has bolstered its depth up front with the addition of forward Jordaan Braun (Moose Jaw, SK), who recently joined the Spartans on a transfer from Briercrest College.
The 5-foot-9, 154-pound Braun, 21, arrived at TWU after spending parts of four years at Briercrest, collecting four goals and three assists in 48 games. He started with the Clippers in 2012-13, playing in 16 games and picking up two assists.
After sitting out the 2013-14 season due to injury, Braun returned to the ice last season, scoring four goals in 21 games. This past fall, he started the year with Briercrest, playing 11 games, before transferring to TWU after the Christmas break.
“We are excited about Jordaan coming to us for the remainder of the season,” said Spartans coach Barret Kropf. “I know he is battling with a few injuries right now, but once he is given a clean bill of health, he will be someone who will push each week to be in our lineup."
"Whenever we add depth, the team gets stronger, and Jordaan is a guy who will force us to be better every day because he works hard, is committed to excellence and wants to see the team improve."
“He sort of fell into our lap because his education opportunities were exhausted at Briercrest, He is an education student and was in need of transferring somewhere to finish his degree. He is a great fit for us and will also help continue to build our culture in the locker room and on the ice.”
The Spartans (9-5-0-1) are on the road this weekend, playing Selkirk College on Friday and Eastern Washington University on Saturday.
