The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League has released its 2015/16 regular season schedule, which includes a special event to mark the league's 10th season as well as a new balanced format.
The season will open on Friday, October 2nd with a pair of games, as Eastern Washington hosts the University of Victoria and Trinity Western visits Selkirk College. Simon Fraser opens their campaign on Saturday, October 10th with a visit to TWU.
As part of the BCIHL's 10th Anniverssary celebrations, the league will host its first-ever regular season showcase from January 15-17 at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre in Burnaby. The weekend will include a total of six games that will all contribute to the league standings.
One notable change is this year's schedule is a return to a balanced format that will see all five of the league's teams play 3 home and 3 away games against each opponent. It marks the first time since the 2011/12 season that all teams will play a balanced schedule.
The first re-match of last season's BCIHL Championship match-up between SFU and Selkirk College will take place in Castlegar on October 31st, with the Saints making a return trip to Burnaby on December 5th.
The 2015/16 BCIHL regular season will conclude on Saturday, March 5th with the first round of playoffs being contested from March 11-13. The 2016 BCIHL Championships will take place from March 18-20.
