Eastern Washington University is pleased to announce a playing commitment from defenseman Hayden Boring (Richland, WA), who will join the Eagles for the 2015/16 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Boring, who stands 5-foot-10, recently completed his junior career with the Spokane Braves of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. He scored three goals and added 16 assists in 50 regular season games during the 2014/15 campaign.
Overall, Boring spent parts of three seasons in the KIJHL split between the Braves and the Osoyoos Coyotes, appearing in a total of 164 games while posting 12 goals, 36 assists and 117 penalty minutes.
Boring's time in Spokane was advantageous to the Eagles staff as they had countless opportunities to see him play.
"When you’ve seen Hayden play as much as we have the last two years we're extremely confident in what we are getting," says Eagles Associate Coach Pat Hanlon. "We've needed help on the blue, specifically on the left side, and we feel Hayden will shore up that issue for us."
Boring will be counted on to play big minutes according to Hanlon.
“Hayden showed the ability to play in all situations with the Braves and we expect much of the same out of him during his time at EWU."
Boring will enroll as a Pre-Med major at EWU in the fall. He is the Eagles' 6th official commitment for the 2015/16 season.
