Trinity Western University goaltender Silas Matthys has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending November 16th.
On Friday, Matthys backstopped the Spartans to a 4-0 home victory over Selkirk College. The win gave TWU sole possession of first place in the BCIHL. The product of Wollerau, Switzerland made 39 stops in total, and was particularly impressive during a 25-save third period.
Matthys has been one of the BCIHL's top netminders early in the 2014/15 regular season. His six wins lead the league, while his goals-against average (2.56) ranks third and his save-percentage (.925) is tied for top spot.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University goaltender Andrew Parent, Simon Fraser University forward Mike Sandor and Trinity Western University forward Dawson Sawatzky.
