Trinity Western University forward J.P. Villeneuve has been named the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending September 28th.
On Friday night, Villeneueve notched a hat trick and added an assist as the Spartans wolled to a 9-3 season-opening road victory over the University of Victoria. The 2013/14 league co-MVP scored his first of the season early in the second period and set up linemate Cody Fidgett for his first regular season goal with TWU later in the frame. The former BCHL sniper then added two more goals in the third.
On Saturday, the 22-year old scored the opening goal in an eventual 4-3 loss to the Vikes while also setting up another pair from Fidgett. Overall, Villeneuve led all BCIHL scorers this weekend with four goals and seven points in two games played.
Runners up for this week's award include Simon Fraser University forward Nick Sandor, University of Victoria forward Evan Warner and Eastern Washington University forward Beau Walker.
