The University of Victoria is pleased to announce that forward Wolfgang Schoenefuhs has committed to the Vikes for the 2014/15 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League.
Schoenefuhs spent last season with the Port Moody Panthers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League and led the club in scoring with 15 goals and 25 assists in 44 games.
The Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey product served as Port Moody's captain and was named Panthers Most Valuable Player at the team's end of season awards. Overall, Schoenefuhs finishes his junior hockey career with 22 goals and 36 assists for 58 points in 82 games.
"Wolfgang is an outstanding player and person," says Panthers General Manager Frank Iantorno. "He was a huge asset for us during his two seasons here in Port Moody. His great attitude, tireless work ethic and leadership abilities will serve him well as he makes the jump to collegiate hockey."
"I'm very proud to commit to a post-secondary education and collegiate hockey in such a well-respected league like the BCIHL as a Panthers alumni," says Schoenefuhs.
The University of Victoria is entering its ninth season in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League. The Vikes have won the BCIHL championship three times in eight seasons, most recently in 2012.
Schoenefuhs joins fellow 1994- born forward Linden Horswill and Carsen Willans (both via the KIJHL's Nelson Leafs) and 1993-born Junior A defenceman Dylan Hykawy as the Vikes' four announced recruits for the 2014/15 season.
