The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program is pleased to announce a commitment from winger Jesse Mysiorek (Fort Qu’Appelle, SK) to attend SFU and join the team for the 2012/13 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Mysiorek, a gritty power forward, played two seasons for the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL before being traded midway through his third season to the Flin Flon Bombers. It was this season that was Mysiorek’s most productive, having notched 40 points in 51 games.
SFU Head Coach Mark Coletta looks forward to adding the hard working two way forward to the lineup.
"We have always been short on big, hard nosed wingers that can score and I think we’ve found one in Jesse. We feel very confident that he is going to come in and be an impact player for us and give us that toughness we need," says Coletta.
"Jesse had many options on where he was going to play hockey next season, and for him to choose SFU is a clear statement that we are doing things right as a hockey program and that SFU offers top flight education."
When asked about his opportunity to represent SFU, Jesse says "I'm excited to continue my post-secondary education at a highly recognized university and to experience everything B.C. and SFU have to offer."
Mysiorek also expresses his desire in bringing a championship to SFU.
"I’d like to make a difference every shift and be a big asset to the team," he says.
Mysiorek is SFU’s sixth commitment for the 2012/13 season. Additional player announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
