SFU tabs Sockeyes' Kyzen Loo as first commitment for 2012/13 season
Thursday, April 26, 2012 - Submitted by SFU Men's Hockey
The Simon Fraser University Men’s Ice Hockey program is pleased to announce a commitment from forward Kyzen Loo (Richmond, B.C.) to attend SFU and join the team for the 2012/13 British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Loo joins SFU from the Richmond Sockeyes of the PIJHL, where he scored 18 goals and added 32 assists in 24 regular season games, with his 2.1 points-per-game average leading the league.

The 6-foot, 180 forward played three full seasons with the Sockeyes, compiling 34 goals and 119 points in 108 games over his PIJHL career. He also brings experience from the Western Hockey League, having suited up for the Prince George Cougars for 32 games during the 2009/10 season.

"Kyzen is a skilled forward with good size who brings an excellent work ethic to our program," says SFU head coach Mark Coletta. "I expect Kyzen to compete for a considerable role on our team next season and for him to develop into an excellent player at the university level."

"I’m excited to be coming to SFU to continue the pursuit of playing a high level hockey," says Loo, who plans to study Criminology. "I’d describe myself as a skilled, playmaking forward who wants to make a difference to help the team, and I’m looking forward to helping SFU win another BCIHL championship."

Loo is SFU’s first commitment for the 2012/13 season. Additional player announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
