The defending back-to-back B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League champion Trinity Western University Spartans open the playoffs hosting the Selkirk College Saints, with Game 1 on Thursday evening at the Langley Events Centre and Game 2 on Friday at George Preston Arena.
Game 3, if necessary, will be played at the Langley Events Centre at 7:00 PM on Saturday. All games in the series will be broadcast live on Hockey TV.
TWU enters the playoffs as the No. 1 seed after finishing atop the league standings for the third consecutive season, compiling a 19-4-0-1 record. The Spartans have won the previous two league championships, sweeping Selkirk in 2018 before capturing their second consecutive title last season over Vancouver Island.
The Spartans offence is led by BCIHL leading scorer Evan Last, who compiled a league-best 16 goals and 35 points this season. TWU’s roster features six of the top-10 scorers in the league. Selkirk will look to second-year forward Dylan Heppler for scoring, as Heppler compiled a team leading 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) this season.
The Spartans are a perfect 6-0 against the Saints this season and have not lost to Selkirk since a 3-2 home loss over a year ago (Jan. 31, 2019).
