SFU forward Jacob Lacasse named BCIHL Player of the Week

The BC Intercollegiate Hockey League announced today that Simon Fraser University forward Jacob Lacasse is the BCIHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 8, 2020.

Lacasse had three goals and three assists in two games as SFU swept an island road trip to clinch second place in the BCIHL standings and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Vancouver product had an assist on the opening goal by Christian Bosa to kick off a four goal first period for Simon Fraser. Lacasse then added a goal in the second period to increase SFU's lead to 6-1. He then notched another assist on Arjan Cheema's first career BCIHL goal in the third period to cap the scoring as SFU romped to a 7-2 win over the University of Victoria on Friday night.

The 21-year-old had a dominant third period as SFU thumped Vancouver Island University 9-1 on Saturday. Lacasse scored Simon Fraser's seventh and ninth goals and added an assist on its eighth goal to cap his six point weekend.

The North Vancouver Wolf Pack grad now has eight points in 11 games for SFU since joining the team for the winter semester. Lacasse, a veteran of 105 career MJHL games with the Winkler Flyers, won a PJHL championship with the Wolf Pack last season.

Honourable mentions for this week's BCIHL Player of the Week include Simon Fraser University forward Arjan Cheema (one goal, three assists in two games), SFU forward Mateo Coltellaro (four assists in two games) and University of Victoria forward Caleb Griffin (one goal, one assist in one game).
