Simon Fraser University is pleased to announce a commitment from former Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL) and Nanaimo Clippers (BCHL) defenceman Jordan Dawson for the 2019/20 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Dawson spent parts of four seasons with the Oil Kings before landing in Langley to finish the 2017/18 season with the BCHL's Rivermen. The Delta, BC native was then traded to the Nanaimo Clippers for the 2018/19 season and appeared in 41 games, putting up 5 points in the regular season and one in the playoffs.
Dawson is a physical defenceman, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 197 pounds. With 67 WHL and 71 BCHL games under his belt, Dawson brings a strong resume including immediate size and grit to the SFU lineup. He also served as an alternate captain with the Clippers.
Dawson joins Ty Westgard (Coquitlam Express, BCHL), Jake Keremidschieff (Richmond Sockeyes, PIJHL), and Matt Krawiec (Red Lake Miners) in SFU's 2019 recruiting class.
Additional announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
