The University of Victoria is pleased to announce defenceman Brock Shwaluk has committed to the Vikes for the 2019/20 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Shwaluk spent last season with the Virden Oil Capitals, scoring once and adding eight assists in 52 regular season games. He also suited up in 10 playoff contests. He previously suited up for the SJHL's Kindersley Klippers in 2017/18 as well as the MJHL's Winnipeg Blues in 2015/16 and 2016/17. He appeared in a total of 150 Junior A games.
The 20-year old is a native of LaSalle, Manitoba, which is located just south of Winnipeg. He played his minor hockey for the Pembina Valley Hawks. The 6-foot-1, 205 pounder is a physical defenseman who plays with lots of grit and defensive awareness.
“I'm beyond excited to announce my commitment to University of Victoria," says Shwaluk. "Choosing UVic was an easy decision to make knowing that I will surround myself with a professional hockey staff and one of the best universities in the country. I couldn’t think of a better place to call home for the next four years. I can’t wait to get things started with the University of Victoria!”
Shwaluk is the Vikes' eighth commitment for the 2019/20 season, joining forwards Keegan Durrance, Keenan Eddy, Zac Gladu and Stratton Pickett, blueliner Jarret Malloch and netminder Caiden Kreitz.
