Trinity Western University goaltender Lucas Mills is the ANYTHING BRANDED Player of the Week for the week ending January 13th. It's the second time this season that Mills has won the award.
The 20-year-old from Burnaby, BC went 2-0 with a 0.99 goals-against-average, a .957 save percentage and one shutout as the Spartans swept a two game weekend at home against Vancouver Island University.
On Friday, the former Abbotsford Pilots netminder kicked out 25 shots, including 13 in the second period, as TWU topped the Mariners 3-2 in overtime.
Back at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday afternoon, Mills made 20 saves for his BCIHL record-breaking sixth career shutout and the Spartans skated away with a 4-0 win over VIU.
Mills now holds the all-time BCIHL record in three major goaltending statistics as he is tops in shutouts (6), goals-against-average (1.76) and save percentage (.936).
He also leads all goaltenders in the league this season with an 11-2 record, a 1.81 GAA, a 14.53 goals-saved-above-average, a .931 SV% and two shutouts.
Runners up for this week's ANYTHING BRANDED POW award include TWU defenceman Jacob Mills and forward Logan Casavant, Selkirk College forward Devin Nemes, University of Victoria defenceman Ben Raffler and Vancouver Island University forward Brett Witala.
