The B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League decided to postpone the October 14th game between SFU and VIU until a later date.
SFU staff were notified on Saturday evening that due to extenuating circumstances an officiating crew would not be arriving on time for the game. A contingency plan was initiated between the BCIHL and BC Hockey, however an alternate crew was not made available in time for the 7:00pm puck drop.
BCIHL games are highly competitive and BC Hockey has always provided experienced and qualified officials. Staff on site did not feel that the game could be played on time and in a safe and fair manner, so it has been postponed.
We sincerely apologise to all SFU and VIU fans, and we look forward to hosting an additional SFU/VIU game this season.
